Ad Libitum's restoration workshop was created to restore, understand and maintain the instruments of the collection. The restoration of an instrument is always executed with historical research about the factors. Thanks to this approach Ad Libitum has created an exceptional documentation which can be consulted by all factors, students and researchers.

Realized in a high level of preservation and conservation, the restorations keep as much as possible original pieces or rebuilt pieces, the objective being to give back to the piano his original sound colour, his touch…

Tuning

A file is made for each piano, both an identity form of the instrument (authentication, dating, photos, survey, plans) and a description of the restoration work. A copy of this folder is delivered to the piano's owner, the other is kept by the association to complete theorical knowledge that can be useful for future restorations on similar instruments.

Excluding strings, coming from Malcolm Rose, Stephen Paulello and Marc Vogel, the Ad Libitum's workshop has no subcontracting.
